Recently, K Building dealer crews met at the Elgin Service Center, K Building manufacturing facility, to get an in depth education on jobsite management and erecting K Buildings. Dealers from Iowa, North Carolina, Indiana and Ohio took part in the hands on training seminar that provided first hand experience to these crew leaders. Upon their return, the crew leaders will take back lessons learned during the day to their crews.

Throughout the day the message was clear. Proper jobsite management and efficient building practices designed to minimize the build time and enhance the customer experience. These dealer crews literally built a K Building inside our training facility from the ground up. Insight as to how crews can multi-task during the build process was a major focus during the seminar. When building a K Building it’s not all about being fast, it’s about being efficient. Learning the systematic approach to erecting a K Building is what it’s all about. The crew leaders learned the proper technique of setting the K Building steel mainframe and end-walls as well as preparing the wood sidewall girts and roof purlins for installation. Other topics of the day included, foundations, overhangs, doors and door headers, roof and sidewall steel coverings.

Experienced K Building crews often complete a typical 70 x 120 agricultural storage building in as little 10 days. Recently, a 70 x 672 foot K Building went from a foundation to being under roof in less than 8 days. Once the K Building package arrives on the site and crews begin the erecting process the build goes rather quickly. The purpose of the training seminar is to ensure all our dealer crews have equally efficient build times.

The customer experience is enhanced by how quickly the K Building is completed and becomes a useful, functioning structure. Additionally, jobsite debris is minimal making a safer environment for everyone during the build.
