THE K BUILDING EXPERIENCE

April 20, 2011

From the very moment you begin to talk to your K Building dealer you will realize this is not just an ordinary building, soon you will find the building experience to be anything but ordinary.

From the onset all K Buildings are sold through a qualified dealer network in 8 states of the Midwest, from North Carolina to Michigan, Iowa to Pennsylvania. K Building dealers are prepared to assist with design ideas and helpful suggestions to insure the customer’s needs are satisfied. Our K Building dealer crews receive hands on training on how to quickly and efficiently erect our structures thereby keeping job-sites safe and build times short.

Once the details of the building are agreed upon, the K Building dealer will place the building order. Upon acceptance of the building order at the K Building manufacturing facility in Venedocia, Ohio, the building order will receive an official ID number. This ID number will forever be linked to the building and will ultimately be riveted to the end-wall for future reference. If the need should ever arise details of the buildings options, siding and structural design, or any other aspect of the building is available by calling K Buildings with this unique number.

Shortly after establishing the ID number, shop drawings are completed along with the foundation anchor bolt placement detail and elevations. The anchor bolt placement detail and the anchor bolts are then shipped either to the K Building dealer or directly to the customer. Site excavation can now take place and the concrete foundations installed. K Building customers can choose from either a concrete pier, poured wall or mono-slab foundations.

While the foundation work is taking place at the jobsite, the building delivery date is scheduled. K Building dealers and customers now know when the building will arrive, complete and ready for erecting on the newly installed foundation.

Along with the delivery date the K Building order is scheduled for fabrication. Every K Building component is built specific to our customer’s requests on an order-by-order basis. The building options are ordered and soon will arrive to be matched up with the newly fabricated “Red Iron” mainframe. The completed building order is now ready for delivery.

The day of the building delivery is an exciting day. Depending upon the size of the building the delivery may take place on a fifth wheel trailer or several semi tractor-trailers. Due to the efficient K Building design, it’s surprising to many that even the very large buildings come in rather small packages. The area required to store the building delivery is kept to a rather close radius around the job-site.

With the foundation already complete it doesn’t take long to see significant progress on the building mainframe. It’s not uncommon to see an entire building mainframe be completed in just days. Once the mainframe is fully assembled, the remaining wood roof purlin’s and sidewall girt’s are installed. To the passerby the jobsite looks incredibly clean and free of debris due to lack of on-site cutting of lumber. In most cases, roof purlins are installed in full-length pieces while the sidewall girt will receive a small notch so it can wrap around the mainframe. Virtually, every step in the erecting process of a K Building is in assembly of the structure, and not in re-working of raw materials in preparation of installation. This results in a much cleaner, safer environment for the building crews as well as the customer’s family and pets.

With the wood secondary structure in place and the windows and walk doors installed, the building will begin receive the exterior siding. Many exterior options are available on a K Building since the building structure doesn’t share wind-loading responsibilities with the steel covering, which is often the case in post frame buildings.

Now the large doors will be installed to complete the build process. Choose from simple walk doors to large utility doors like single of double sliding doors, overhead, bi-fold or hydraulic doors. Door locations and sizing, which incidentally can be as large as 43’ 6” in the sidewall, is entirely up to the customer.

The K Building process in short is very clean and efficient. Often, the time spent erecting a K Building is a fraction of that of competing structures. This build time is a result of the engineering that has taken place during the fabrication of the mainframe structure. All fasteners and fastener connections have been pre-determined. There becomes only one way the structure itself can be built. It will be build as designed, every time.
